Echoes of Creation – Version 1.2.0.0 Patch Notes
1 General
Update 1.2.0.0 is the second major milestone in the development of Echoes of Creation. The goal of a milestone update is to significantly extend the game with new content, but also to revisit existing features to improve them on a fundamental level in order to not only evolve the game into a substantially better state, but also one that feels entirely fresh.
This update is, without a doubt, the largest that Echoes has received so far, and I am excited for all of you to re-discover the game as you jump back in!
1.1 New Realm
Update 1.2.0.0 comes with the addition of a new realm: Realm 3
A realm is the place where the entirety of your gameplay progress is contained. When deciding to play on a new realm, all progress will be reset, and everyone has the opportunity for a fresh start on equal footing. Of course, however, you can keep playing on the realm that your current progress is bound to.
Opening new realms is what allows Echoes of Creation to evolve as a game, as doing this allows for the possibility of introducing large-scale changes to the game which, for example, may make existing items unattainable for new players, or rework parts of the game to a degree that existing characters become non-functional. A new realm also comes with the opportunity of discovering the new state of the game from the beginning, and the chance of competing for your placement on a fresh leaderboard.
It is important to mention that switching to a new realm only affects gameplay progress, meaning that any purchases such as inventory space, character slots, cosmetics, etc., as well as your Soul Essence in general, will be available on all new realms as well. The intention is that nothing which is directly tied to premium currency is ever lost.
Soul Essence spent on conversion to either Arcana or Favour will be refunded in the form of Fractured Soul Essence on new realms. Fractured Soul Essence is bound to that new realm, and can only be used for conversion to Arcana or Favour.
2 Character System & Offline Rewards
Several large-scale changes have been made to both the general character system and the way offline rewards are handled. The goal is to introduce more character slots in general and to enable all characters to gather offline rewards without exception while at the same time making sure that creating a multi-character setup does not feel mandatory for progression.
- Added three save slots, and fully divided Non-Hardcore and Hardcore to use their own slot systems, resulting in a total of eight independent slots for each gamemode
- Removed the previous active/inactive slot system which made only a certain number of characters eligible for offline rewards. Each character can now accumulate offline rewards, with the degree of rewards earned depending on the Offline Effectiveness of the save slot that character belongs to
- Characters can now be moved to different save slots
- Character slots now display the level of the character which belongs to it, its name, and its current inventory capacity
- Offline rewards are now calculated for all characters of the selected gamemode when entering the character selection menu
- The base amount of offline rewards has been increased by approximately 25%
- Endgame offline reward scaling has been tuned to more realistically account for endgame difficulty scaling, resulting in substantially more rewards at high Nexus tiers
3 Endgame Expansion & Overhaul
The endgame has both been significantly overhauled and expanded in 1.2.0.0.
3.1 General Endgame Changes and Additions
- The progression of post-campaign state is now shared between all characters within the same realm and gamemode. Once a character completes the campaign, it will gain access to this shared zone progress state within the Nexus and Crucible of Creation as well as the shared Nexus Skill Tree (For existing progress in previous Realms, this shared state is based on the character with currently highest progression in the selected gamemode)
- Added a new endgame zone type which can be accessed after reaching a certain Floor within the Crucible: Manifested Echoes
3.2 Endgame Rebalance
The currently existing difficulty growth within the endgame has a strong focus on scaling enemy damage, leading to a disproportionate emphasis on requiring a character with highly powerful defences in order to have a chance to progress. In 1.2, the existing difficulty scaling within the Nexus and Crucible of Creation has been overhauled significantly with the goals of creating a more natural challenge curve and enabling a wider range of character archetypes to be viable.
- Fully overhauled enemy stat growth within the Nexus and Crucible of Creation, adjusting growth rates, breakpoints, and more
- Shifted a significant portion of damage growth of enemies in the endgame into life/survivability
- Decoupled the growth in enemy regeneration from enemy life and adjusted its scaling to be less oppressive
- Adjusted all multipliers gained to different rewards in the endgame to reflect changes made to enemy difficulty
- Reduced the growth of item rarity in the endgame, and increased the growth of item quantity in the endgame to compensate for the loss
3.3 Crucible of Creation
The goals of these changes are to make the Crucible of Creation more rewarding to enter and progress through, and to improve the experience beyond Floor 50.
- The Crucible now provides more rewards compared to the Nexus of Creation and grants twice as much Favour on successful Floor completion
- Adjusted the drop rates of Crucible Keys at every tier to account for difficulty and rewards adjustments across the endgame
- From Floors 51 onward, each Crucible checkpoint now consists of a single Floor (previously five)
- Added a set of new, yet familiar foes to certain Floors above Floor 51 within the Crucible which are sure to provide a challenge!
3.4 Nexus Tree Rework
The Nexus Skill Tree has been renamed to the Nexus Tablet and has been rebuilt around shared progression and with the intent of enabling both more choice as well as increased flexibility.
- The Nexus Tablet now contains a set of 50 nodes, allowing full allocation of the tree once the Crucible of Creation has been completed
- Transformed almost all large nodes within the Tablet into multi-choice options
- Reworked many existing Nexus Tablet skills, and added a set of entirely new effects
- Added a set of loadouts to the Nexus Tablet, allowing you to switch between different allocation layouts at any time. One loadout is available by default, while two others can be unlocked through the use of Soul Essence
- Improved the Nexus Tablet UI
4 Soulcores
Soulcores are an entirely new equipment type obtainable in the endgame. These items can enhance Class Passives and completely transform Class Masteries, adding a new layer of character customization.
- Added 12 Soulcore base types
- Added 30 alternate Mastery Effects which are accessible via Soulcores
5 Advanced Item Crafting
5.1 Item Enhancement
The goal of Item Enhancement is to provide a way for steady, incremental power gain during the endgame as well as a way to min-max your otherwise perfect gear. One major issue with the existing system is that the process of enhancing lacks satisfaction due to it having no meaningful stake.
1.2 aims to make this process more enjoyable by introducing a major change to the Item Enhancement system while adjusting success chances as well as attempt costs to accommodate this change.
- Failure during Item Enhancement now reduces the item’s enhancement tier by one
- Significantly increased the success chances of Item Enhancement across all tiers
- Increased the cost of enhancing attempts across all tiers
5.2 Crafting Reagents
Added 37 crafting Reagents which allow you to greatly modify and steer the behavior of the next crafting operation for a cost. Reagents can be found from all enemies above level 80, and affect different crafting operations in different ways.
5.3 Other Crafting Changes
- The cost of Item Reforging now depends on the Item Level of the selected item (previously 2,000 Arcana for all items):
– Item Level 1–50: 2,000 Arcana
– Item Level 51–80: 3,000 Arcana
– Item Level 81+: 4,000 Arcana - Purification of Unique items now costs 500 Favour (previously 250,000 Arcana)
- Modifiers that increase the maximum Mutability of an obtained non-Unique item no longer apply to its minimum Mutability
- Lowered the base minimum Mutability of non-Unique items at Item Level 100 to 20 (previously 24)
- Adjusted the Item Infusion formula to compensate for lower average Mutability on found non-Unique items
- Substantially increased the chance for Item Infusion to upgrade at least one modifier at low Mutability values
- Item Quality now increases the chance for individual modifiers of found items to roll at a higher Purity percentage, including Unique items
6 General Game Balance & Changes
- Adjusted enemy stat growth per enemy level across the campaign to provide a more natural progression curve
- Increased enemy damage by approximately 7% at enemy level 100
- Fully overhauled enemy modifiers with the goal of providing a more consistent growth in enemy power across all modifier tags
- Reduced the inherent growth in Item Quantity and Item Rarity per enemy level by approximately 15% to compensate for adjustments elsewhere, such as increased base offline rewards as well as endgame rewards scaling

10 Item Synthesis
Item Synthesis has been fully reworked to make the system more intuitive while also allowing for more strategic decision-making.

12 Realm Journey
The Realm Journey is a new rewards system that consists of eight progression milestones, each of which unlocks a variety of different rewards. Any Realm Journey is directly connected to one realm, in this case Realm 3, and can only be progressed while playing within that realm.
The Realm Journey comes with both a Free Track and a Premium Track. While the Free Track is available to everyone and contains both Soul Essence and gameplay-relevant rewards such as different currencies or items, the Premium Track of a specific Realm Journey can be unlocked via a one-time purchase and contains both Soul Essence and exclusive cosmetic items. It is important to mention that the Premium Track will never contain items which directly influence power or progression apart from Soul Essence (premium currency). Instead, the goal is to provide a way for players to support the long-term development of Echoes of Creation in return for high-quality cosmetics which come with special visual effects that put them in a tier above regular ones.
Following is the list of milestones and rewards for the Realm 3 Realm Journey:
Free Track Rewards:
- Complete the Whispering Forest: 10,000 Arcana
- Complete the Eternal Bastion: 10 Soul Essence
- Complete the Pale Valley: 2,500 Favour
- Complete the Mystic Falls: 20 Soul Essence
- Complete the Climb: Random high-Quality Unique Item of Item Level 80
- Complete Floor 10 within the Crucible of Creation: 30 Soul Essence
- Complete Floor 30 within the Crucible of Creation: 3x Perfect Essence of Mutation
- Complete Floor 50 within the Crucible of Creation: 50 Soul Essence
Premium Track Rewards:
- Complete the Whispering Forest: Ascension Character Effect (4 variants)
- Complete the Eternal Bastion: 200 Soul Essence
- Complete the Pale Valley: Divine Halo Head Attachment (4 variants)
- Complete the Mystic Falls: 200 Soul Essence
- Complete the Climb: Awakened Adventurer Outfit (4 variants)

- Complete Floor 30 within the Crucible of Creation: Assimilator Back Attachment (4 variants)
- Complete Floor 50 within the Crucible of Creation: 200 Soul Essence
13 Other Changes
- The number of rewarded advertisements available per day that grant Soul Essence has been reduced to 3 (from 5). This change has been made for the following reasons:
– To reduce the total amount of free Soul Essence in order for monetization to enable the long-term development of Echoes of Creation
– To allow the introduction of other, new sources of free Soul Essence such as the Realm Journey
– To reduce the total number of advertisements in the game
Beyond this change, it is important to mention that no further reductions to this system will happen in the future. It remains intended for the daily Soul Essence system to allow players to unlock features such as Inventory Slots, Storage Units and Cosmetics over time, though at a rate which is more in tune with what the core monetization systems of the game allow. - Daily Soul Essence advertisement charges now reset at a fixed daily time rather than 24 hours after the player’s previous claim, preventing lost time when a reward is not claimed immediately after a charge refresh
- Adjusted the difficulty and rewards of several challenges
- The “Boon of Splendor” Shrine Upgrade has been renamed to “Boon of Abundance” and now grants more Item Quantity instead of more Item Rarity
- The item Modifier Pool view now displays the modifier buckets associated with each modifier
- Improved the wording on multiple modifiers to make their function clearer
- Shock Effect and Chill Effect terminology has been standardized to Shock Magnitude and Chill Magnitude when referring to ailment strength
- Improved the wording of different Item Base Type Modifier Families
- Power-Saving Mode during combat now also suppresses the combat sound effects
- Removed the death count display of a character during character selection
- Removed the baseline Energy Shield VFX as it clashes with more deliberate cosmetic loadout combinations which are now possible
- The Book of Guidance now correctly explains that the Maximum Life and Maximum Mana bonuses from Strength and Intelligence apply per 10 points of the attribute
- Improved the game saving process to be faster and more reliable
- The start-of-Encounter character fade-in is now quicker
- Improved the speed of offline rewards calculation
14 Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where Purity calculation involving non-variable modifiers and modifiers where lower values are better could cause issues
- Fixed a bug where the Evasion Rating of high-level Enemies was lower than intended
- Fixed a bug where multiple item-quality bonuses described as “more” combined additively instead of multiplicatively
- Fixed a bug where Enemy Life and Energy Shield regeneration depended on whether the player had a non-zero amount of the same resource
- Fixed a bug which could cause overlapping main-menu and combat music
- Fixed several bugs where the game save process could lead to stale or incomplete data being saved
- Fixed several bugs which could lead to broken save states in rare cases
- Fixed a bug where one realm’s save data could overwrite another realm’s data
15 Ending Notes
Due to the large scope of 1.2 and the time required to complete it, there are no new Unique Items immediately included within this Update. However, new Uniques are an integral part of a fresh experience and something which I want to continuously add to Echoes. I am actively working on a double-digit set of Unique Items and plan to add them within a few weeks of launch at the latest. Until then, I am certain that with 30 alternate Class Mastery Effects provided by Soul Cores, the many rebalanced as well as reworked Abilities & Unique items, as well as an entirely overhauled endgame experience, there won’t be a shortage of new paths to discover!
I am very excited for all of you to experience everything that 1.2 has to offer, and greatly appreciate your ongoing support. It truly matters.
